Last night brought us Yo La Tengo, playing music from their new release Popular Songs. The veteran tunesters served up a captivating mix of smooth pop and blistering guitar feedback. A string ensemble joined them for a couple of new tracks before the epic outro 'The Story of Yo La Tengo' pierced our ear drums for nearly twenty minutes. "We tore the playhouse down /and we try so hard", sang Ira Kaplan.
Yes they did, yes they do.
