Isle of Wight

Lynda and I took a few days to visit the lovely Isle of Wight, overeat, drink a few bottles of wine, enjoy the sunshine while it lasted and then walk about in the cold and wet.

Waiting around on the sea front at Shanklin until we can check in at Ventnor.

Pavement. Refreshing.

Steephill Cove, Ventnor.

Bubble bath. A priority at check-in.

The view from Ocean View House.

Orchard Bay.

Starting the ten mile round trip to Blackgang Chine.

The path into Niton.

Avast! Blackgang Chine, smuggler's haunt and eroded theme park.

Here's where the weather really started to blow in. These photos were taken around 3:45. It was much more blustery than it looks here.

Walking along the clifftop path. Lynda spooked me out, much to her amusement.

Evil Sheep with glowing eyes. 'Maaaark... Maaaaaaaark.'

We got back to the guesthouse around 5 o' clock.

The view was incredible in the morning.

Breakfast time! Cheese and bacon omelette.

Time for a nap.

We sat on the sea front and read for a bit before catching the ferry home. In this photo, we're trying to recreate the disembodied head craze Old Man started in Durham.

  1. I'm starting to suspect that you're only carrying around the book by Plato for photo opps and amusing anecdotes with burly, philosophising doormen. Suspect, my friend! Suspect!
